Motivation to quit smoking among manual workers: research in manufacturing industry
Riegrová, Kateřina ; Kulhánek, Adam (advisor) ; Kočvarová, Linda (referee)
Background: Smoking cessation is still a debatable topic in addiction services as well as in other circles of the professional public. The use of tobacco products is examined both in clients of addiction services and in the general population. Many studies that deal with the use of tobacco products are focused on specific groups in the general population (e. g. pregnant women, Roma and people in prison). However, if we wanted to focus on the part of the population in the Czech Republic which is specific working in blue-collar professions, we would find a very limited number of resources. Objectives: The main target of the research was mapped the motivation to quit smoking among manual workers who work in industrial production. This goal was mapped through questions that focused on motivational factors, level of motivation to quit smoking, attempts to quit smoking, and reasons for relapse. The secondary goal was to verify the interest of production workers in the employer's smoking cessation support program. The main intention was to find out how many employees would participate in the program if the employer would offer to them. This secondary goal was also related to the mapping of the use of professional services by employees in case they were informed about them. Methods: The research was...

Specifics of Economic Development in Modern Russia
Glebova, Margarita ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Hollmannová, Monika (referee)
This master thesis is dedicated to Russian development and determinants of its growth. Just two decades ago Russia experienced a total change in the political and economic structure of the country. USSR fall, together will all its successes and failures. Russia went to the path of building a market economy, while the rest of the developed world was already living in such economy and using its benefits. With the heritage of the USSR, Russia had a huge potential to be successful in that road. The goal of this work is to answer the question, whether or not we were able to use it. In order to answer this question two-stage analysis was performed, combining theoretical and quantitative parts. Theoretical part contains the overall analysis of the areas of economic and social development. Quantitative part contains analysis of the main GDP drivers and endogenous powers of industrial production. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Macroeconomic factors and stock returns: Evidence from three Central and East European countries
Tung, Christopher ; Novák, Jiří (advisor) ; Dědek, Oldřich (referee)
This dissertation deals with the links between stock market returns and foreign exchange rates, industrial production and exports to Germany in three Central and East European countries (the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland). The main questions addressed are: "Do macroeconomic factors related to foreign exchange rates and industrial production affect stock market returns in the Visegrad-3? And what is the impact of exports to Germany on those stock returns?" This analysis makes use of panel-data and the Arbitrage Pricing Theory (APT) to produce results. Firstly, foreign exchange rates are found to have a negative effect on stock returns. However the divergence in currency returns between the three countries means that the overall effect may be due to some factors that are not accounted for in this analysis. Secondly, there is a positive, but lagged, association between industrial production and stock returns. Thirdly, exports to Germany from the region are also found to have a positive impact on the stock returns of the Visegrad-3. Finally, there is divergence among the three countries with respect to the relationship between the macroeconomic factors and stock returns. Poland and Hungary are seen to exert a significant amount of influence over the region's stock markets.
